Delaware skipper

The Delaware skipper is a bright yellow orange butterfly with black edges on its wings. It belongs to the grass skippers, little quick butterflies with chunky bodies. It likes damp places like marshes, but it also visits gardens.

The underside of its wings is plain yellow orange, with almost no markings.
Its wing veins are dark brown, like thin lines drawn on the orange.
In warm places it has several families a year, from February to October.
In the north it usually has just one family, in summer.
