It looks a lot like the common striped woodlouse, so you have to look closely to tell them apart.
In Britain it was first found in 1873, on Copthorne Common in Surrey.
Scientists use it as a sign of ancient woodland. If you find it, the wood is probably very old.
Long ago some blue ones were found, and people thought they were new kinds. Later scientists learned they were just sick with a virus that turns woodlice blue.
