The Chilean rose tarantula is a big, hairy spider with a pinkish or reddish shine. It lives in a burrow in dry, scrubby land in South America. It is calm and easy to look after, so it is one of the most popular pet tarantulas in the world.

Fun fact: spiders are not insects. Insects have six legs, spiders have eight. Everyone calls them bugs anyway!

When it feels scared, it brushes tiny itchy hairs off its back with its legs. They make an attacker's skin and eyes itch.
