The giant African millipede is the biggest millipede in the world. It can grow longer than a school ruler and has about 256 little legs that ripple like a wave when it walks. It is gentle and slow, and some people keep it as a pet.

Fun fact: this one is not an insect. Insects have six legs, and this cousin has many, many more.

It eats rotting leaves and dead plant bits on the forest floor. This turns old plants back into good soil.
