The Goliath birdeater is a huge, hairy, brown tarantula. It is the heaviest spider in the world, about as heavy as a big apple. With its legs spread out, it can be as wide as a dinner plate.

Fun fact: spiders are not insects. Insects have six legs, spiders have eight. Everyone calls them bugs anyway!

It eats big insects, worms, frogs, toads, lizards, mice and even snakes. It drags its food back to its burrow to eat it.
