Milk termite

The milk termite is a small Australian insect that lives in a huge family. Together they build a hard mound out of soil. From the mound, secret tunnels spread out under the ground in every direction.

The mound has a thick, hard outer wall and a hard core of soil stuck together like cement.
In the very middle of the mound is a soft, papery nursery where the queen and the young termites live.
The workers travel through tunnels in the soil, so they can find food without ever coming out into the open.
Its soldiers have heads shaped like a pear.
