This big shiny black spider lives high up in the trees of eastern Australia. Most funnel-web spiders live on the ground, but this one makes its home in old logs, branches and hollow tree trunks. It is the biggest of all the funnel-web spiders.

Fun fact: spiders are not insects. Insects have six legs, spiders have eight. Everyone calls them bugs anyway!

Scientists think it mostly eats beetles that bore into wood, because it lives inside trees where those beetles are.
