Plaited door-snail

Cochlodina laminata

The plaited door-snail is a land snail with a long, thin, pointy shell. Its shell is brown to cherry red, smooth and shiny. Like all door snails, it has a tiny door inside its shell that closes when it pulls itself in.

Fun fact: this one is not an insect at all, it has no legs! But kids find it on every bug hunt, so it lives in Bug Wiki too.
