The tree hole mosquito is a mosquito from Europe and North Africa. It is a close relative of the Asian tiger mosquito. Its babies grow up in the little pools of rainwater that collect in holes in trees.

In 2016 some people in England thought they had found a dangerous new mosquito. It turned out to be this one, which has lived there all along.
Scientists test in their labs which germs mosquitoes might carry. In nature this one has not been found spreading illness.
