Fun facts
The female lays her eggs under the leaves of juicy succulent plants, where they are better hidden from hungry animals.
Its eggs are tiny, less than 1 millimetre wide. They start pale green, slowly turn white and hatch after about a week.
The caterpillar starts only about 1 millimetre long and grows to about 16 millimetres before it becomes a pupa.
Males guard their own little patch. They sit on a plant, wait for a female to fly past and chase other males away.
