Eastern green drake

The eastern green drake is a big mayfly from eastern North America. It spends its childhood underwater in streams and rivers. Then it flies up into the air for a very short grown-up life.

How fast is it?
Fun facts
It grows up in three steps: a young one living underwater, a flying not-quite-grown-up, and finally a grown-up.
Mayflies are the only insects that change their skin once more after they already have wings.
The grown-up stage lives only for a short time.
There are plenty of them, and scientists say the species is safe and not in danger.
