Eastern treehole mosquito

The eastern treehole mosquito is a dark mosquito with a brown stripe down its back and silvery white sides. It gets its name because it likes to lay its eggs in little pools of rainwater inside holes in trees.

How fast is it?
Fun facts
Besides tree holes, it also lays its eggs in water that collects in old car tyres.
Its eggs hatch when rain fills up their pool. Not all of them hatch at once, in case the pool dries out again.
In the north only its eggs survive the winter.
In 2004 some of these mosquitoes hid in a ship full of tyres going from America to France, but people found them and stopped them.
