Fun facts

1

One nest can hold from 2,000 to 50,000 bees, about 10,000 on average.

2

Workers change jobs as they get older: first they make wax, later they clean, guard the nest and finally fly out to collect food.

3

About 8 guard bees stand at the nest entrance, sometimes flying back and forth in front of it.

4

The bees keep their nest at about 32 degrees, a bit warmer than the rainforest around it.

5

A worker bee lives only about 30 to 40 days.
