Middle-striped bumble bee

The middle-striped bumble bee is a fluffy bumblebee from Mexico and Central America. It lives in misty cloud forests high in the mountains. It needs old natural forest to survive.

How fast is it?
Fun facts
It nests underground in very shallow holes, sometimes in old mouse or rat burrows.
Its colonies are small. One nest had only 27 workers.
The eggs and babies lie on a soft bed of moist pollen.
When young bees leave their cocoons, the old empty cocoons are made bigger with wax and used as honey pots.
It is losing its home because forests are cut down for farms, mines and towns.
