Fun facts

1

It has a clever trick for ants. It circles around until the ant faces it, then jumps onto the ant's head, where the ant's jaws cannot reach.

2

Before every jump it fixes a silk safety line. If it misses, it climbs back up the line.

3

It was first named from a drawing made in 1792, and no one kept a real spider as an example.

4

The mother guards her eggs in a silk nest. About 15 babies hatch at a time.
