Bug Wiki: Terms of Use
Version 2026-10-09.
The short version. Bug Wiki is a wiki of real bugs for kids and the grown-ups who read with them. No ads, no accounts, no chat. Every bug is free. There is nothing to buy.
1. Who we are
Bug Wiki is made and operated by 4V3D OÜ, a company registered in Estonia.
- Registry code: 17515961 (Estonian Business Register)
- VAT number: EE102990461
- Address: Asula tn 5-26, 11312 Tallinn, Estonia
- Email: [email protected]
- Phone: +372 5444 0211
In these terms "we" means 4V3D OÜ. Your agreement is with the company, not with any individual.
2. Who the agreement is with
The agreement is with a grown-up: a parent, a guardian or a teacher, aged 18 or over. In the app, a grown-up answers a short question and taps "Agree and continue" before a child plays. The version and the date are stored on the device.
On the website nobody is asked to agree to anything. These terms describe how we run it.
Children never have accounts and are never asked for personal details. In the app, every link that leads out sits behind a grown-up check. You are responsible for how the child in your care uses Bug Wiki.
3. What Bug Wiki is, and what it is not
Bug Wiki is for fun and general learning: insects, spiders and other little creatures, quizzes, Bug battle, Bug race and a sticker album.
It is not a school curriculum and it is not a scientific reference. Science keeps changing. Sizes and top speeds are estimates or come from the sources. The photos are real photos by other people. Any of them can be wrong or out of date. Bug battle and Bug race are games: who wins is made up for fun and says nothing about real animals.
If you find a mistake, tell us and we will fix it. If you send us a correction or an idea, we may use it in Bug Wiki without owing you anything. We do not publish your name.
4. What is free, and tips
Free. Every bug is free, on the website and in the app. There is nothing to buy and there is no subscription.
These terms are between you and 4V3D OÜ. The store is not part of them. The store's own rules also apply when you use the app. On iPhone and iPad, Apple's standard licence for apps also applies. These terms add to it and do not replace it. Where the two differ on what we owe you, you can rely on the one that is better for you.
Tips. "Feed Dot the ladybird" on the website is for grown-ups. It is a gift to 4V3D OÜ, not a purchase. It unlocks nothing and buys nothing. You pay by card on a page run by Stripe. If you tipped by mistake or twice, write to [email protected] within 14 days and we send it back. If a child tipped without a grown-up's permission, write to us and we send it back. The 14 days do not apply to that.
Nothing in this section limits refund or withdrawal rights you have under the consumer law of the country where you live.
5. Your right to use it
You may install and use Bug Wiki on any device signed in to your store account, at home or in a classroom. Please do not sell it, rent it out, republish it as your own or take it apart to copy it. Anything the law lets you do anyway stays allowed.
On the website you are welcome to read, share links and print pages for home or classroom use. Please do not copy large parts to republish them, scrape the site, or overload it.
On the website a few links lead to other sites: the stores, Stripe and our sources. Those sites have their own terms and privacy rules. The app has no link to Stripe. Every link that leads out of the app is behind the grown-up check.
6. Content and credits
The texts, the design and the games belong to 4V3D OÜ. The facts are retold in our own words from Wikipedia articles. The text of those articles is licensed under CC BY-SA 4.0, creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0, and each bug page links to its article. The photos come from Wikimedia Commons and keep their own licences. Each bug page names the photo's author and licence and links to it. The round stickers are cut from those same photos. The copying rule in section 5 does not apply to those parts.
7. Keeping it working
Bug Wiki will do what this page and the app's own description say it does. For as long as you can reasonably expect, we supply the updates it needs to stay secure and keep working. We cannot promise it will never have a fault. That depends on your device and its operating system as well as on us.
If something is not working the way it is described, tell us at [email protected] and we will put it right. If we cannot, you have the remedies the law gives you.
If you live in the EU and the law gives you a guarantee that Bug Wiki works as described, nothing on this page limits it.
The website is free and comes with no promise that it is always available. If we ever stop offering the app, we say so on bugwiki.app at least 60 days beforehand, and the app keeps working on your device for as long as the device's system allows.
8. Our responsibility
We are liable to you as the law says. That includes loss we cause by breaking these terms or by being careless.
We are not liable for loss that could not have been foreseen when you agreed to these terms or started using Bug Wiki, or for loss caused by something outside our control that we could not reasonably have avoided or overcome.
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury, for anything we do deliberately or with gross negligence, your rights when Bug Wiki does not do what we promised, or any other liability that the law does not let us limit.
9. Changes to these terms
We may change these terms or Bug Wiki for one of these reasons, and no others: a change in the law, a change in a store's rules, security, technical necessity, or adding or improving features.
When the terms change in a way that matters, we raise the version number, show the new terms and ask you to agree again. Small fixes to wording do not need a new agreement.
If a change makes Bug Wiki meaningfully worse for you, we announce it on bugwiki.app at least 30 days beforehand. The app update that brings the change shows it too. If you do not accept the change, you can end the agreement within 30 days after it.
10. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Estonia. If you are a consumer, nothing in these terms takes away rights you have under the mandatory consumer law of the country where you live, and you can bring a claim in the courts of that country.
If something goes wrong, please write to [email protected] first. We answer a complaint in writing within 15 days. If we cannot sort it out between us, consumers in the EU can take the dispute to an out-of-court body. For us that is the Consumer Disputes Committee at the Estonian Consumer Protection and Technical Regulatory Authority (Tarbijavaidluste komisjon, ttja.ee).
These terms are written in English and translated. If a translation differs from the English, the meaning that is better for you as a consumer applies.
If you live in Australia or New Zealand. For Australia: Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure. To claim, write to [email protected] or to the address in section 1. It costs you nothing. This comes on top of your other rights under that law.
For New Zealand: the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 gives you guarantees that cannot be excluded. Nothing in these terms limits them.
