The alfalfa plant bug is a long, slim bug that can be light green or pale brown. Its feelers are almost as long as its whole body. It loves alfalfa and cotton plants, and farmers are not happy to see it.

The males are a little bigger than the females.
Its babies, called nymphs, are green with red eyes and have no wings yet.
A mother can lay up to 300 eggs inside the stems of plants. Most eggs wait through the winter and hatch in spring.
It came to Canada and the USA about 100 years ago and spread far, because it likes cool weather.
