Tiger spider

The tiger spider is a big golden orb weaver with stripes and spots that look a bit like a tiger. The female has a black front covered in silver hairs and brushes of stiff black hair on her legs. Its web shines like gold.

The male is tiny. He can be less than one tenth of the size of the female.
Its web stays up for a long time, it does not build a new one each night.
It actually does better in cities, where it is warmer and there are more insects.
