Citron bug

The citron bug is a long, dark brown bug with black and orange striped feelers. Its back legs are wide and flat, a bit like leaves, so it is called a leaf-footed bug. It sucks juice from many fruits and vegetables.

The female lays her eggs in a neat chain of about 16 along a twig.
The young are reddish with dark spines and change their skin five times as they grow.
At first the young stay close together, later they spread out over the plant.
Its spit can make plant shoots shrivel up.
From egg to adult takes about nine or ten weeks.
