Pulmonoscorpius
Pulmonoscorpius was a giant scorpion that lived on land about 341 million years ago, long before the dinosaurs. The biggest one we know of was about 70 centimetres long, as long as a big dog. It had big eyes on the sides of its head and probably hunted in the daytime.

Its name means lung scorpion, because it breathed air with lungs like today's scorpions.
Its fossils were found in a quarry in Scotland, and its second name comes from that place.
It is one of the biggest scorpions that ever lived.
Unlike most scorpions today, it had large eyes on the sides of its head.
Most of its fossils are as flat as paper, and only the thin outer skin was saved.
