Fun facts
Males and females look so different that scientists first thought they were two different species.
The female is pale with cinnamon brown blotches and has a strip of thick white hairs across her face.
Over the years it has been moved between five different groups of spiders before getting its name today.
It lives from the seaside up to about 300 metres high, even in forests growing on limestone rock.
