Longleg dandy

The longleg dandy is a small jumping spider with extra long, thin legs and fluffy orange tufts above its eyes. It walks with a funny bouncy step. It is a clever hunter that sneaks up on other spiders.

When it rests, it pulls its legs in close to its body so its shape is hard to see.
If something disturbs it, it can leap 10 to 15 centimetres into the air and then freeze.
Most jumping spiders see clearly far away, but this one only reacts to things about 10 centimetres away.
Its belly is stretchy and can become almost round like a ball after a big meal.
It trails a silk safety line as it walks, so it can climb back if it falls.
